Ambulance Region Biel AG was founded in 1996.The company has developed very dynamically in recent years. It currently employs 78 people, 13 of whom work at the 144 emergency call center in Biel. The operational area of Ambulance Region Biel AG is characterized by its diversity, with bilingualism, rural and urban regions, Lake Biel, and the surrounding mountains. Ambulance Region Biel AG is a limited company in which the Biel Hospital Center SA holds two-thirds of the shares, and TCS Swiss Ambulance Rescue SA holds one-third.

Training

The training of our paramedics is of the utmost importance to us. A motivated training team supports and encourages them throughout their learning process. A large team, bilingualism, a varied working environment, and close, personal support during the learning process are among the strengths of our emergency service.

Emergency call center 144

Biel Emergency Medical Call Center (CASU)

The Biel Emergency Medical Call Center (CASU) was founded in 2012 at the Ambulance Region Biel SA site. 13 bilingual staff members are available 24/7 for the population of the Jura Bernois, Seeland, and Biel-Bienne regions. Since November 2018, the CASU 144 Biel has been integrated into the cantonal engagement center (CEC) of Biel, sharing premises with the Bernese cantonal police. The operational area is highly diverse due to the rural and urban environment, surrounding mountains, and Lake Biel. Since late 2022, the CASU 144 Biel has been certified by the Interassociation of Rescue (IAS).

Insurance companies reimburse patients for transport and rescue services according to the scope of the insurance and applicable tariff agreements. The transport and rescue services covered by basic health insurance are limited (Article 25 of the Federal Health Insurance Act LAMal). Under Articles 26 and 27 of the Ordinance on Benefits of Mandatory Health Insurance (OAML), health insurance covers a maximum of 50% of transport and rescue costs. A maximum amount of CHF 500 or CHF 5,000 per calendar year is covered. Patients without supplementary insurance must pay 50% of the services provided by ARB SA themselves.

Immediately report the accident to your employer and send the ambulance invoice along with the accident claim number to the relevant accident insurance. If you are insured with SUVA, please return the invoice with the claim number.

The emergency service of Ambulance Region Biel SA (ARB SA) invoices its services directly to patients according to the applicable rates and guidelines. Patients are responsible for the amount invoiced to the service provider (ARB SA).
